Overview of MCH Eight-week Summer School Curriculum:

Theme: “Continent & Island-Hopping Around the World!”

Each weekafter our countrys birthday celebration!--we will highlight one continent, providing a cross-curriculum review of foundational knowledge, incorporating literature, science, art, physical/cultural geography, and much more: Everything is connected!

Week One: Mon./Tues., July 2-3: U.S.A. Independence Day Story; Fireworks, Science & Art

Week Two, July 9--13: ASIA [Japan, China, India, Korea, Philippines, & others]

Week Three: July 16--20: AUSTRALIA [Continent Country]& New Zealand

Week Four, July 23--27: AFRICA: [Egypt, Ghana, & others], Madagascar

Week Five, July 30--Aug. 3: EUROPE [France, England, Italy, Germany, Poland, etc.]

Week Six, Aug. 6--10: SOUTH AMERICA, Galapagos Islands & Jamaica [& Antarctica!]

Week Seven, Aug. 13--17 NORTH AMERICA, West Coast and Hawaii

Aug. 17-18: This year’s annual Family Picnic & Camp-over will be “Hawaiian Luau”
style and is being combined with Dr. Perrah’s “40th Year of Teaching” Reunion.

Week Eight, Aug 20--24: NORTH AMERICA [Mexico, Canada, & Native America]

Our Last Day Whole Earth Celebration Friday afternoon, August 24th

Each week will have a schedule familiar to our MCH families [Special Visitors TBA]:

MON: We introduce focus continent and countries. [Spanish & Dr. Ps New Book Club]

TUES: FitKids Program & ICPS, special focus on Appreciating Diversity [Japanese]

WED: Art & Science groups coordinated with focus continent/countries [Piano Class]

THURS: Around the World Music coordinate w. focus continent/cultures [Japanese]

FRI: Complete /review the week’s focus. Related MCH Family Homework!

An Open Invitation: We are asking all parents to share their family heritage, their particular expertise or passion for an area of the world with MCH children. By Fridays, interested parents will be asked to bring in material to share, intended to go with the following week’s focus. We will be posting the name of the lead teacher to talk to for each weeks focus. Meantime, any parent who would like to help with research or preparations for any of the summers events, please let the staff know now. May this be a fruitful, memorable summer!
